The Contemporary Artists Forum will open its 12th C.A.F.Exhibition — or C.A.F.E. — at 1978 Maplewood Arts Center, 1978 Springfield Ave. in Maplewood on Sunday, September 14.

Lead by artist and curator Mikel Frank, the forum has 18 members who meet regularly at the arts center to discuss art issues and critique each other’s current work.

“It is a very talented group of artists who create work in all kinds of different mediums,” Frank said.

The artists are: Francesca Azzara, Alaine Becker, Eric Beckerich, Janis Blumgart, Mary Jean Canziani, Tom Carlson, Luis Alves Collage, Larry Dell, Michael Friedman, B. John Kaufman, Howard Kook, Clara Manheim, Vicki Parker, Lois Shapiro, Cynthia Smith Weiss, Patricia Toltl, Florence Wint, and Tricia Zimic.

The exhibition at Gallery 1978 opens to the public with a reception for the artists on Sunday, September 14 at 2 p.m. The artists will discuss their work briefly at 3:00 p.m.

Refreshments will be served.

For the first time in the history of the Contemporary Artists Forum, Frank has arranged a very special one time performance of a play. The Scientists: a forgetful farce will be performed on Sunday, September 28 at 5:00 p.m. Suggested donation is $5. Seats are limited, so reserve at https://www.artful.ly/store/events/3888.

Tickets will also be available at the door the night of September 28.
