Maplewood’s own Drew Dix is on stage locally this summer at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in Madison.
Dix is playing the characters of Pandolfe and Ergaste in a production of Molière’s The Bungler.
It’s Dix’s third season with the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. Company credits include Henry IV, Part One and Man of La Mancha. He has performed regionally with Luna Stage, Open Book Theater and Firebone Theater.
Performances of The Bungler run through July 30.
From the Shakespeare Theatre of NJ: “Translated by Richard Wilbur, Molière’s giddy, side-splitting romp highlights Molière at his frothiest and silliest as it follows the hilarious adventures of a clueless young lover and his clever servant attempting to help him win the heart and hand of a beautiful gypsy girl.”
Besides Dix, the cast includes Kevin Isola, Aaron McDaniel, James Michael Reilly, Sam Ashdown, Sophia Blum, Eric Hoffmann, Drew Dix, Devin Conway, and Danilo Ottaviani. The production is directed by Brian B. Crowe.
“The Bungler is like a delicious sorbet on a hot summer day; sweet, refreshing and an ideal treat. Molière’s brilliant wit, colorful characters, and unexpected twists – not to mention the delightful costumes and sets from this stellar design team – are sure to inspire giddy laughter for people of all ages,” said Crowe.
