The following is from Anna Litvak:
On June 10th at 5:30 pm, South Orange resident Anna Litvak will host the 2017 Fundraising Event of the Art of Giving Project. The Art of Giving Project is designed to organize events where arts and crafts made by Latvian orphans and disabled children are sold and the funds used to provide aid such as medicine, shoes, school supplies, beds, clothes, as well as orphanage repairs and renovations on an ongoing basis.
The evening will take place at the Wellness Lounge at 14 South Orange Ave, South Orange. RSVP by contacting Anna Litvak at [email protected].
The fundraising event will bring together members of the South Orange and Maplewood community. The event will be silent-auction style, where community members will get a chance to eat, drink, mingle, enjoy live music, and bid on the beautiful artwork made by the orphans and disabled children from Latvia. The money raised goes back directly to help the children, for specific projects.
Art of Giving Project was started by Litvak in 2010. At the time, she was working as a Delegate for the Permanent Mission of Latvian Republic to the United Nations. In Latvia, children make beautiful art work as part of the school program. However, the art work usually goes nowhere and, many times, is simply thrown away. The purpose of the project is to collect the artwork and organize events through which the art work is sold and they money generated goes back to benefit the children. Working with world leaders as one of the youngest Delegates in the history of the United Nations inspired Litvak to found the Art of Giving Project in New York City.
