Early Saturday morning, authorities arrested one of two men charged in a January triple murder in Maplewood. Lavelle T. Davis, 33, of Galloway, NJ, was taken into custody in Yonkers, NY by detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office (ECPO), FBI and Yonkers Police Department, after being on the large, according to a press release.

Davis was charged along with Jimmy P. Mays, who was arrested in Maryland Friday and remains there pending extradition to New Jersey. The two have been charged with three counts of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, felony murder, robbery and weapons charges in the January 29 murders of Michael Davis, 45, of Maplewood, Lance Fraser, 44, of Newark and Roshana Kelson, 30, of Paterson.

The three, found in an apartment on Van Ness Court, died of gunshot wounds. Authorities have not yet released information on a motive.

“We appreciate the assistance and collaboration from all of the law enforcement agencies involved in this investigation and arrests of these dangerous individuals,” said ECPO Chief of Detectives Quovella M. Spruill, in the release.
