Advance Auto Parts will open its Maplewood location on Springfield Avenue this Thursday, July 16.

Advance Auto Parts, Inc. (NYSE: AAP) bills itself as “the largest automotive aftermarket parts provider in North America, serving both professional installer and do-it-yourself customers.”

The new store is at 1752 Springfield Avenue, across from the Springfield Avenue U.S. Post Office.

A ribbon cutting will be held on Saturday, July 18 at 12:00 p.m.

Company officials said they chose this location “because it’s convenient to where their customers live and shop as well as the garages where they take their vehicles for repair.”

Carlos Fermin, the store’s General Manager, will be working with 11 other “team members” at the Maplewood location. In a release, Advance Auto said that Fermin is a 15-year veteran of the automotive and retail sales industries and has been with the Advance Auto Parts Team for five years.

The new store offers “a wide range of parts and recognized national brands as well as several free services.”

Store Team Members will provide free installation — in the rear of the store — for new windshield wipers and also offer a complimentary check of vehicles’ electrical systems and old batteries, as well as provide free installation of a new battery with purchase on most vehicles.

However, as per the location’s approval by the Maplewood Planning Board, Advance Auto will “strenuously enforce” the prohibition against customers doing any work on their vehicles on the property or the adjacent roadways.

“We are not proposing any service activities. This is not a mechanic shop. This is a retail store,” said Marsha Moore, attorney for Advance Auto, told the Maplewood Planning Board at a hearing last August 12.

The store offers fast parts delivery to local commercial customers such as professional mechanics and garages. Customers can also order online and pick up items in the store within 30 minutes. The store will also provide recycling: customers may drop off used motor oil and batteries.

“Advance Auto Parts is committed to bringing our Promise – Service is our best part – to life not only for our customers, but also in the communities where our customers and Team Members live. As part of this commitment, we are pleased to announce a $1,000 check has been donated to Building Homes for Heroes,” said Fermin.

The store will be open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
