If you want to stay up to date on all the events and happenings in South Orange’s Village Center, there’s a new weekly email newsletter in town.
“The Village Vibe” is the creation of South Orange Village Center Alliance Executive Director Bob Zuckerman. Zuckerman penned his first Vibe on June 26 and has been rolling out the e-newsletter weekly ever since.
“Whether it’s a new business opening, a promotional offer from one of our great stores, restaurants or service providers, a special event or news pertaining to our central business district, we hope you will find this e-newsletter informative, entertaining, and most of all, an encouragement for you to visit our Village Center and find out all the great things we have to offer!” wrote Zuckerman in the introductory newsletter.
Just a few editions in, the Vibe has updated subscribers on the preliminary results of the retail study, plans for PlayDay South Orange (Sunday, September 21!), Downtown After Sundown concerts, the Gateway mural project, and specials at local restaurants like Above, Falafel-ly Yours and Papillon 25.
So far, it’s been a success. The Vibe already boasts 1,300 subscribers and a 35% “open rate” — a remarkable number by newsletter industry standards.
“That’s 500 to 600 people opening the newsletter each week,” said Zuckerman, who runs the Alliance with Events and Operations Coordinator Melissa Hodge.
