Thanks to Our Advertisers for Supporting Local Journalism in 2016

In 2016, nearly 60 local advertisers enjoyed the marketing reach of Village Green and helped to keep this young local news site strong and growing for another year.

We have two words for those advertisers: “Thank you!”

We are happy to report that Village Green is thriving and expanding. Our revenues — as well as our readership and social media reach— have increased year over year and month over month since our inception in the summer of 2014. Village Green has become the “go to” news site for Maplewood and South Orange.

As we’ve grown, our costs have increased as our advertising platform and site storage and maintenance fees have increased. The support of our paywall subscribers and advertisers have made it possible for us to meet the needs of an expanding audience while continuing to provide high quality local news coverage.

We’ve been able to revamp our website, expand our calendar, build a directory, hire freelancers, support local causes and keep churning out stories about the schools, local governments, local businesses and the fascinating people in South Orange and Maplewood who continue to amaze us with their personal achievements and community-minded activities.

While hoping not to sound too grandiose, we are ambitious for Village Green. We view the local journalism provided by Village Green as a vital asset — along with our diverse population, cultural assets, beautiful homes, green leafy streets and parks, public safety, public transportation and strong schools — that makes our community such a desirable place to live. As we enter 2017, we will continue to provide local reporting while looking to expand our offerings and improve the experience for readers and advertisers.

If you’d like to join our efforts and enjoy the fruits of our labor, contact Shana Teitelbaum for information about advertising on Village Green at shana@villagegreennj.com.
