From the Achieve Foundation:

Maker Madness

What will you make this Saturday in the Columbia High School cafeteria?

Maybe a stop motion animation video, or a Popsicle stick “bomb,” or how ’bout a tee shirt that lights up?

Know what makes a printer work? Find out by taking one apart.

LEARN BY DOING creative activities of your choice and watch demonstrations of drones, rockets and robots.

All of this and more is FREE to students k-12, parents, and community members with Maker Madness from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 30, in the Columbia High School cafeteria.

The Achieve Foundation invites everyone to explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math) and expand horizons by making things with your hands.

Maker Madness combines engineering with art, science with crafts, and technology with music, and encourages people to interact directly with the physical world. Here’s a small sampling of our stations to pique your curiosity:

Balloon Hovercrafts – Race your own simple hovercrafts, made from 4 components, including recycled CDs and balloons.

Printmaking from Nature – Make beautiful prints from nature using edibles like shallots, melons, and limes.

Hour of Code – Anyone can learn to program, using exercises and games from the popular, international HourOfCode site.

Find out more information about makers’ stations here: https://www.achievemakermadness.org/home

Join us, rain or shine. No tickets necessary. Pizza and snacks available. Parents: please accompany children under 12.

WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST AT STATIONS! NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. Adults and high school students, sign up here.
