The event is inspired by the post-Women’s March call to action to complete “Ten Actions in 100 Days,” including writing postcards to Senators. (Read here about one local postcard writing party.)
Here is a message from the organizers:
“The Women’s March was just the beginning for Maplewood and South Orange, NJ. After sending 33 buses and over 1500 people to Washington DC, this community wants to keep the momentum going. We want to take a stand against the misogyny, racism and extremism this administration is perpetrating and hold our representatives accountable for representing our communities.
“In that spirit, we are hosting a Community Letter/Postcard Writing Open House on Saturday January 27th from 1-4pm at The Woodland in Maplewood. It’s a family friendly drop-in event. Location, postage and postcards have been generously donated by community members. Over 150 people have RSVPd with over 250 interested in attending. Supporting groups are SOMA Dems, Women’s March on Washington-SOMa, Box Populi, and Indivisible Women of SOMa, among others.”
