11-Year-Old Punched, Robbed of Bike in South Orange MS Parking Lot, Police Report

An 11-year-old boy reported that on September 27 at around 5:30 p.m. he was pedaling his bicycle through the South Orange Middle School parking lot when he was punched by a teenager and pushed off his bicycle, said South Orange Police Chief James Chelel.

The boy described the teen as an older, black male juvenile wearing a white t-shirt, red shorts and a cloth wrapped around his head who was accompanied by two other teens, said Chelel. The three fled east on South Orange Avenue with the victim’s bicycle, a grey and orange Roadster mountain bike, and were seen on a security camera on Vose Avenue.

The boy was not injured. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

10/5/2015
Warrant arrest
Nathan Bailey, a 29 year old Newark resident was arrested on 10-5-15 at approximately 12:20am after it was discovered during a motor vehicle stop on Mountain house Rd. that the subject had an outstanding warrant issued for his arrest out of Bloomfield.

Theft of wallet
A victim stated that on 10-4-15 at approximately 3:30pm she had left her wallet on a table in the laundry mat located on Valley St. and approximately two hours later a resident located her wallet in the Pathmark parking lot. The victim stated a small amount of cash was removed from same

Theft of wallet
A South Orange resident stated that on 10-3-15 at approximately 1:30pm she had left her wallet in the Bow Tie theatre and that approximately five hours later when it was returned to her by the theatre staff she discovered that approximately $250 in cash had been removed from same.

Theft/arrest
Reginald Murph, a 31 year old Teaneck resident was arrested on 10-2-15 at approximately 7:20pm after Detectives discovered that he was the actor responsible for several thefts that had occurred at the Seton Hall University library. The subject was charged accordingly for the offenses and is believed to have committed similar offenses at other universities. The investigation is continuing at this time.

Theft
A Seton Hall University student stated that on 10-1-15 at approximately 4:50pm an unknown actor had removed cash and a credit card from her bag that she left unattended for a short period of time while in the university library. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Warrant arrest
Marquis Harris, a 27 year old Linden resident was arrested on 10-1-15 at approximately 12:15am after he was stopped for committing a motor vehicle violation on Prospect St. and during the filed inquiry it was discovered that the subject had an outstanding warrant issued for his arête out of the city of Elizabeth. The subject was arrested at the scene without incident, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

Criminal mischief
A Valley St. resident stated that sometime during the evening or overnight hours of 9-30-15 an unknown actor(s) entered his vehicle (2014 BMW) which was parked in his driveway by damaging his driver’s side door lock. Once inside the vehicle the actor ransacked the interior. The victim stated that the actor(s) had also attempted to removed his tires as the lug nuts to same had been removed.

Theft of bicycle
A South Orange resident stated that sometime between 5:40am and 6:30pm an unknown actor had stolen his men’s black Cannondale bicycle which had been locked to the bike rack located at the main train station.

9/29/2015
Theft of newspapers
A Holland Rd. resident stated that for the past two months an actor described as being a black male and dressed in all black has been stealing her and her neighbor’s newspapers from the steps of their residences. The thefts have been occurring between 5:45 and 6:30am.

Thefts
Two Seton Hall University students reported that their credit cards were stolen from their personal belonging while they were inside the university library. One of the victims stated that she observed an older black male and a Hispanic or light skinned black female roaming the area of the library acting suspiciously during the time of the thefts. The thefts are believed to have occurred during the late evening hours of 9-27-15. The Detective Bureau along with SHU security personnel are investigating the incidents.

9/28/2015
Theft
A Seton Hall University student stated that on 9-27-15 she was in the university library when she left her bag unattended for a few minutes and some unknown actor(s) removed her wallet from same. The wallet contained her personal identification and credit cards.

Theft
A contractor stated that on 9-25-15 at approximately 1:00pm he was working at a residence located on Beech Spring Rd. when an actor described as a black male with shoulder length dreadlocks removed a power saw from his truck and fled the scene in a grey mid-sized vehicle.

Burglary to vehicle
A Lindsley Pl. resident stated that he had parked his vehicle (2015 Subaru) in his driveway on 9-26-15 at approximately 8:00pm and when he returned to it the following day he discovered some unknown actor(s) had entered same and rummaged through the glove box. No items were removed.

Warrant arrest
Tony Soloman, 26 year old Orange resident was arrested on 9-25-15 at approximately 11:50am after he was observed trespassing on a privately owned property located on Hillside Pl. During the subsequent field investigation by officers on the scene it was discovered that the subject had an outstanding warrant issued for his arrest out of Edison Township.
