A 24-year-old woman was robbed on Wednesday morning on Fernwood Road after a man in a pickup truck approached her and demanded her belongings, said police.
At around 8:45 a.m., a gray pickup truck stopped in front of a home on Fernwood Rd. and a man got out of the vehicle and approached the woman as she was walking to her car, said Sgt. Christopher Black. The man demanded her cell phone and purse and then fled in his truck; the woman was not injured, said Black.
The Ford F250 used in the robbery was recovered by Maplewood Detectives approximately 30 minutes later in Newark and was determined to be stolen, Black said. The Detective Bureau is continuing to investigate the incident and the area is being given extra attention by patrol units.
