Resident Surprises Burglar in Her Basement, Maplewood Police Say

A resident of Van Ness Terrace saw a man in her basement on November 16 at around 6:30 a.m., said Maplewood Police. The man immediately escaped through a basement window. Police responded and searched the area but did not locate the man, said police. Nothing was reported missing at the time of the report.

This is the second recent burglary on Van Ness Terrace; last week Maplewood Police reported that sometime broke into an apartment on the 50s block and stole a handgun.

November 16, 2015; Package Theft; A resident of Essex Ave responded to Maplewood Police Headquarters and reported that during the day two packages were stolen from their property.

November 19, 2015; Theft of Tires/Rims; At approximately 2:30 AM, a resident of Woodland Rd heard noises outside their home. When they looked out the window, they observed an SUV driving off of their lawn and fleeing the area. The resident came outside and observed that all four tires and rims had been removed from their Range Rover in the driveway.

November 20, 2015; Theft from Auto; During the overnight hours change was taken from an unsecured vehicle parked on Boyden Parkway South.

November 20, 2015; Stolen Trailer; During the previous day a trailer with a snow blower chained to the back of it, was stolen from a parking lot on Oregon St
