Union Man Charged in Killing of Maplewood Man in Union

Twenty-five-year-old Yves Marcellus of Union has been arrested and charged with the beating death of Matthew Murrell, also 25, of Maplewood.

Murrell’s body was found outside a home on the 800 block of Salem Road in Union just before 5 a.m. on July 5, 2016.

According to a statement from the Acting Union County Prosecutor Grace Park, Marcellus was arrested at his job on Route 22 on Friday night (the name of his employer was not released) and charged with first degree murder.

Marcellus is being held in Union County Jail with bail set at $1 million.
