The following is from a team parent.

To a packed house in Columbia High School’s storied swim hall, with the echos of cheering fans and screaming team mates bouncing off the Guastavino tiled ceiling, the CHS Girls Varsity Swim team defeated a highly favored Montclair High School and rolled to their eleventh straight victory of the season.

The Montclair Girls team placed 2nd in the Essex Counties Championship Meet earlier this week with Columbia Girls placing 5th, but that didn’t deter or frighten this well coached team.

With the usual strong swimmers contributing in event after event, and a deep bench filling in the gaps, Coach Maggie Keenan once again juggled her line up to outwit and out-swim the heavily favored Montclair team. With just three meets left, an undefeated season could be close at hand.

The Boys Varsity took another tough loss to a strong Montclair boy’s team. Despite the loss, seven swimmers logged in their best times proving they were not going down easily.

The next dual meet is at home against West Orange High School on Friday at 4:30pm.
