SOMA People That You Meet — Hannah Epstein

People That You Meet” is a series of interviews conducted and posted by the Vanessa Pollock Team/Keller Williams, highlighting residents of the South Orange-Maplewood community and their diverse and interesting lives.

This installment is an interview with Hannah Epstein, full time student and active in local theater and television production. 

Where are you from?
  • Maplewood!
Where did you live before that?
  • Does the womb count?
What brought you to SOMA?
  • My parents moved here for the schools and a backyard
What do you do (for a living or as a serious hobby)?
  • I’m a full time student, and I do theater and television production in Maplewood/South Orange.
What can you tell us about your involvement with ? 
  • I got involved with Parnassian because my sister was a member before me and I knew I wanted to get involved with drama at Columbia. Parnassian is like a family, everyone is friends and we all connect so well. Our school was submitted to be considered for the Fringe Festival, and we were invited! To go to Edinburgh would be like a dream. Not only for the culture and travel, but for the experience of the Fringe Festival!
What’s your favorite feature of your home?
  • The balcony outside of my bedroom brings in the most beautiful light.
Where do you love to go on a date night?
  • St. James Gate has always been a favorite (with Hershey’s ice cream for dessert)
What music/album are you really into these days?
  • I cannot stop listening to the Hamilton soundtrack!
If you could have a super-power, what would it be?
  • I feel like flying would be pretty convenient and a great party trick.
What’s the best book you’ve read in the last 5 years?
  • I just read Pride and Prejudice for school and loved it!
What’s something that amazes you?
  • Dogs.
Describe your family:
  • An amazing, hardworking mother, a silly, supportive father, a talented, intelligent sister, and a very cute, very dumb dog.
Describe your ideal day:
  • Lounging with my friends, talking and eating.
Favorite local place to eat?
  • The Parkwood Diner.
Who/What did you aspire to be when you were little?
  • I still feel pretty little, even though I’m seventeen, but I’ve always wanted to do something with the arts.
What is your favorite store?
  • Target has everything I’ll ever want or need.

  • BEACH
Favorite movie?
  • Away We Go
What inspires you?
  • My parents
How would you describe your “style”?
  • Lots of dresses
Coffee or tea?
  • I’m big into tea.
