Tuesday, May 12, is Election Day in South Orange. Voters will be electing a new Village President — the two candidates are Emily Hynes and current Trustee Sheena Collum — as well as three members of the Board of Trustees who are running unopposed: Deborah Davis Ford, Howard Levison and Mark Rosner.

It is a historic election, as the township will have its first female Village President. Read our coverage of the recent League of Women Voters debate between Hynes and Collum.

Hynes is “Row A;” Collum, Davis Ford, Levison and Rosner are “Row B” on the ballot. Village President and Trustees serve four-year terms.

The polls are open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. To find out your polling place, call the Village Clerk’s Office at 973-378-7715, x1 during regular office hours, or email at clerk@southorange.org. On Election Day, the Village Clerk’s Office can be contacted between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

In the last election for Village President four years ago, turnout was very low and the result came down to a mere handful of votes.

Make sure to get out and vote!
