Riverdance

The international Irish dance phenomenon is back by popular demand at NJPAC this weekend. Riverdance captures the imagination of audiences across all ages with an innovative and exciting blend of dance, music and song.

bloomfestEssex County Bloomfest happens on Satruday in Branch Brook Park in Newark. Enjoy a family day in New Jersey’s pinkest park! A packed schedule of events includes Japanese cultural demonstrations, children’s activities, live music, a crafter’s marketplace, food, and more. The celebration continues at the Cherry Blossom Welcome Center and the Prudential Concert Grove.

Members of the Maplewood Historic Preservation Commission will be at the Local History Center located in the Maplewood Hilton Library on Saturday afternoon to discuss tips on the history, architecture, and care of you home.  Go discover information and possibly early photographs of your Maplewood home. Local experts will be available to discuss repairs, replacement materials and resources on how to fix your home.

Prospect presents “With Warmest Regards,”  a cabaret concert featuring Dr. Lori Mirabel and Allison Franzetti (Multi-Grammy nominated pianist). Join them as they continue the theme of “Tearing Down Walls and Building Bridges” through music. Light refreshments will be served.

Oh Sandy! Olivia Newton-John will perform at The Wellmont Theater on Saturday night. When most people hear Newton-John’s name, they think Grease!, but she has five number one singles under her belt. From when she first started out with her country music, through the Grease sound track and the Xanadu days, Newton-John has such an eclectic back catalogue of music that there’s something for everyone at one of her shows.

Radam Schwartz will perform at the SOPAC Jazz in the Loft on Sunday. Organist and pianist Radam Schwartz has built his reputation over the last 35 years playing with such great musicians as Arthur and Red Prysock, Eddie Lockjaw Davis, Al Hibbler, Irene Reid, Jimmy Ford, Cecil Brooks III, Tommy Gryce, Madame Pat Tandy, and David Fathead Newman. Radam Schwartz has released six albums as leader and two as co-leader, garnering nationwide radio airplay, as well as two composer awards from The Society of European Stage Authors and Composers.
