Giving Teens A Voice: Teen Conversations on Race Sessions–For Students and Adults

January 17, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

The South Orange/Maplewood Community Coalition on Race has teamed up with Maplewood and South Orange public libraries in two gatherings for middle school students and other teens. There will be two Teen Conversations on Race sessions – one for middle school students and high school students ONLY on Wednesday, December 6th from 4:30 – 6:00 pm at Maplewood Memorial Library and the second one on Wednesday, January 17th from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at South Orange Public Library for students meeting separately in one area, while parents and other adult community members meet in an adjacent space, and then all come together to share.

All discussions will focus on perceptions, experiences and problem solving around race-related issues. Participants will identify common race issues and brainstorm on creating supportive environments for community youth. Pizza and drinks will be provided.
