South Orange Symphony Open Rehearsal and Orchestra Social

Dust off that violin hiding in your closet and join South Orange’s own resident community orchestra! Tuesday, September 5 at 7:30 marks the first rehearsal of South Orange Symphony’s 2017-2018 concert season, and is also the day that the symphony welcomes any interested musicians to join them on the stage of South Orange Middle School for their annual Open Rehearsal. Susan Haig of Summit will lead the orchestra in an evening of sight-reading, prepping the group for their opening concert in early November. The South Orange Symphony presents three free concerts to the public each season, including a fun Family Concert each February, tailored to young audiences.

South Orange Symphony has been making music in the town since 1949! The orchestra is made up of talented amateurs, students, semi-professionals, and part-timers, ranging in age from high schoolers to senior citizens. String players are always welcome to join the ranks; there are more limited openings in the woodwind and brass sections.
