Melissa Rice Maus, 42, passed away suddenly on December 27, 2015.

Melissa, beloved wife of Dan and mother to Austin and Cameron, both of whom attend Clinton School, was also raised in the Maplewood/South Orange area. According to an obituary posted on NJ.com, Melissa was a 1991 graduate of Columbia High School (read the full obituary here).

News of Maus’ passing was posted by Sharon Duberman Geraghty on the Facebook closed group Swap SOMa Lounge, where many friends and neighbors are expressing shock and sadness. According to Geraghty, Maus’ death was “sudden and very unexpected.”

The visitation will take place at Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home at 2122 Millburn Avenue Maplewood, NJ, on Friday, January 1, 2016, from 3-7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, January 2, 2016, 12:00 p.m. at St Joseph’s Church, Maplewood, NJ.
