Michael Dorfman, new education director at Oheb Shalom in South Orange

New Jersey native Michael Dorfman has joined the professional staff at Oheb Shalom Congregation as Director of Education. Mr. Dorfman will be responsible for all aspects of the Zeman Religious School, including Shabbat programming, and will serve as our liaison to the joint USY chapter.

Mr. Dorfman is a charismatic and innovative educator who comes to Oheb Shalom with a wealth of experience. Most recently, he served as Department Chair of Jewish Studies and Director of Curricular Technology at Rodeph Sholom Day School in Manhattan. He holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Rutgers University and a Master’s Degree in School Leadership from Brooklyn College. He is New York State certified as a principal and superintendent. Additionally, Mr. Dorfman holds certifications in curriculum design and Jewish education from JTS. Raised in Marlboro, New Jersey, Mr. Dorfman also has a background in Jewish summer camping both as a camper and a staff member.

The Zeman Religious School connects kids to Judasim in innovative ways through music, art, drama,
and more. Synagogue membership is not required during the first year of enrollment (K-2), and tuition-free kindergarten is being offered for the 2015-16 school year. The school is now accepting applications for fall 2015. To learn more, visit https://www.ohebshalom.org/religious-school/.
