From Lydia Johnson Dance School:
The acclaimed Lydia Johnson Dance (LJD) School is excited to announce a major expansion in their Contemporary/Modern curriculum! In order to welcome a wider range of experience in middle and high school dancers, new Contemporary technique and Student Company classes will be offered. Level 3/Technique & Junior Company for 6th-8th grades and Level 4/Technique & Senior Company for 9th-12th grades will be taught in an atmosphere that is non-competitive and inclusive, while challenging students to master dance elements rarely taught outside of New York City.

Students will work with both Ms. Johnson, an acclaimed professional choreographer, and professional dancers from her company. The journal Critical Dance in New York commented on Ms. Johnson’s NYC 2026 Season:

Both Student Company curriculums continue to include a range of techniques, choreography workshops, performance skills and an exploration of individual interpretation. Guest Artists from NYC will teach at intervals, including those who joined LJD’s summer faculty at Dance Camp this summer: Oscar Antonio Rodriguez, Min KIm, Emma Conrad, Gabe Sharp and more.
Student Company dancers will be preparing for our unique and popular New York City Student Choreography Performance at The Ailey Studios in the Winter/Spring semester.

6th-8th grades meets THURSDAYS 6:30-7:45pm
Level 4: Senior Student Company with Contemporary Technique
9th-12th grades meets THURSDAYS 7:15-8:30pm
