Upcoming NJ TRANSIT & Jitney Changes Due to Construction

Good afternoon, Maplewood. Beginning this Sunday, October 11, 2026, NJ TRANSIT riders will be impacted by Amtrak and NJ TRANSIT’s construction work to transfer the final track from the 116-old Portal Bridge to the new Portal North Bridge over the Hackensack River. This is the final phase of the cutover work that began earlier this year. Read the full NJ TRANSIT press release.

While this critical work will ultimately deliver substantial benefits to riders, it means NJ TRANSIT customers will experience adjustments to rail service from Sunday, October 11, 2026 through Saturday, November 14, 2026.
