Maplewood gardeners will have the opportunity to indulge in a particularly Maplewoodian treat come September 4.
That’s when Maplewood residents are invited to sign up for bench space in the municipal greenhouse.
The greenhouse is a bit of a local secret. It’s a delightful oasis located behind Town Hall and is managed by the Maplewood Garden Club.
The greenhouse season runs from Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 through Memorial Day 2015. The signup takes place from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m on Thursday, September 4 at the Maplewood Town Hall meeting room.
Doors will be open beginning at 4:00 p.m. for early birds who wish to get in line for first pick of spaces.
The seasonal rental fee is $30, with a limit of one bench per household. Cash or check made out to the Township of Maplewood accepted.
Maplewood residents only are eligible.
Those who are unable to come at the scheduled time may send a representative.
Beginning Monday, September 8, any remaining spaces will be made available during normal business hours at the Maplewood Department of Public Works by contacting Donna Lenci, office manager, (973) 762-1175.
If any spaces remain after Sept. 30, current bench space renters may then rent an additional bench through the DPW offices.
