In the wake of the sudden resignation last month of Maplewood Middle School Principal Jerrill Adams, the administration has re-opened its search for a replacement, while one of the school’s assistant principals has been tapped to serve as an interim principal.

“Mr. Louis Brown has once again agreed to step up and serve in the role of interim while we continue to search for the next MMS principal,” said Supt. Dr. John Ramos in an email. “He will assume these duties effective tomorrow, July 20.”

Ramos said the district would also identify another person to “round out the team” and help Brown and assistant principal Marc Gold during the transition period.

This is Brown’s second time serving as interim; he also took over that role when Jeffrey Truppo resigned in 2014.

After Adams’ resignation, the district initially said it hoped to hire a replacement by the July 18 Board of Education meeting. However, Ramos said, after the first, two-day round of interviews no candidate advanced to a second round.
