A 71-year-old Maplewood man who wandered away from his home Saturday night was located after an intensive search involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

A caretaker notified the Maplewood Police at approximately 9:15 p.m. to report that the man, dressed only in an undershirt and boxers, had gone missing from his house on Boyden Avenue, said Sgt. Christopher Black. Police responded and began searching the home and the general area. The Essex County Sheriff’s Office sent a K9 unit, and the NJ State Police aided in the search by helicopter, said Black.

Maplewood Officer Munoz found the man at around 11:30 a.m. the following day sleeping in an unlocked car, Black said. He was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
