A 15-year-old boy with autism was injured after he fell from a third-floor bedroom window in Maplewood Monday morning, said police.
The boy’s father called 911 at around 9 a.m. to report that his son had fallen from his bedroom window on S. 4th Street, said Sgt. Christopher Black of the Maplewood Police Department. When officers arrived, the found the teen laying outside on the ground, alert but complaining of pain in his leg and hip, said Black.
A detective also responded and spoke with family members as part of an initial investigation, Black said. Police do not suspect foul play and believe the boy might have tried to jump from the window to a nearby tree, said Black.
The Maplewood Fire Department took the teen to UMDNJ for treatment of his injuries, which did not appear to be life-threatening, said Black.
