What could be better than enjoying objects of beauty while becoming one yourself?

Patrons of the Anthony Garubo Salon in Maplewood Village are experiencing this phenomenon with the new initiative “Artists Unite.” The project partners with local artists from all media who work together to create “something new, fresh and symbiotic.”

“As a business who has been in town for over 40 years, connecting with the community and forming partnerships is at the forefront of who we are and continue to aspire to,” said Janine Garubo Austin. “This collaboration is refreshing, inspiring and transformative because with every artist the outcome is aesthetically different. Sharing art, perspective, diversity and beauty is what inspires us.”

The first collaboration to hit the walls at the salon was a collaboration by artist Danielle Masters and poet Marcia LeBeau. Currently, the work of photographer Jamie Meier. Said Meier, “I would love to bring more awareness of this great initiative to our community. There are videos, art installations in the salon, and more.”

Ten of Meier’s photo pieces are now displayed throughout the salon’s space and will continue there through the end of the year. (Psst, they are also for sale!)
