Lydia Johnson Dance in South Orange is taking advantage of the towns’ proximity to the bright lights of Broadway with a Master Class taught by Maplewood’s own Broadway singer, dancer, actor — and, yes, parent — Jamie LaVerdiere.

LaVerdiere is currently working on Motown and has also worked on Broadway in The Pirate Queen and as Matthew Broderick’s understudy in The Producers. He has toured America with Urinetown and Europe with A Chorus Line. Off Broadway credits include I Love You, You’re Perfect…(at the Westside), Closer Than Ever (York), and This Side of Paradise (St Clement’s).

LaVerdiere and his wife, Broadway actress and singer Christiane Noll, have chosen LJD for their 5-year-old daughter’s dance studies for the past two years.

The class is a win-win: For LaVerdiere, he can enjoy access to New York City, get high quality dance lessons for his daughter, and bring his own talents to share with local kids (ages 4th grade and up) to LJD studio. Lydia Johnson enjoys access to New York City professional quality teaching with a close connection to the community.

Classes begin Saturday, October 25. For more information or to register, visit here. Email ljdschoolnj@gmail.com.
