‘Tis the season for art and craft shows, and the annual BANG IX (“Buy Art Now Guys”) exhibition and sale, which runs for four days in early December at 1978 Maplewood Arts Center in Maplewood, is one of the best.

Now in its 9th year, BANG features affordable, small scale original artwork by over 40 local and regional artists. The exhibition will be open on December 6, 7, 13 and 14, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Also, this year the show will be open Wednesday, Dec. 10 from 11 a.m – 5 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. On that day, many of the artists will be on hand to meet the public and answer questions about their artwork.

The artwork featured includes paintings, photographs, sculptures, prints, ceramics, jewelry, note cards, drawings and more. It is all affordably priced for holiday shopping — and 20% of all sales will support exhibits and community projects 1978 presents throughout the year.

A member’s preview for Friends of 1978 is on Friday, Dec. 5 from 7 – 9 p.m., and members receive a 10% discount on sales Friday night. Anyone interested in becoming a Friend of 1978 is welcome to attend this event; new memberships will be accepted at the door.

Visit 1978’s website at www.1978ArtsCenter.org for more information about memberships and upcoming exhibitions and classes.
