Community Art Hoops Return to Maplewood’s July 4th Celebrations

The following is from the July 4th Committee of the Maplewood Civic Association

Maplewood’s Annual July 4th celebration will be a full day of festivities in Memorial Park with live music, boardwalk games, a 5K, a classic car show, fireworks display and much more! The annual July 4th celebration has been organized by the July Fourth Committee of the Maplewood Civic Association since 1902.

This year, John Kaufman with support from 1978 Maplewood Arts Center has conceived of the 2017 Maplewood 4th of July Art Project as an opportunity to collectively exercise individual expression. Art hoops or “circles” are currently being decorated by creative participants of all ages. The circles will be installed and displayed in Memorial Park July 4th, so bring them to the field on July 4th to take part in the community showcase. Learn more about the project by contacting John Kaufman at [email protected].

The festivities are also in need of volunteers. Volunteers enable Maplewood’s July 4th to continue as a community-wide endeavor. Get involved by signing up at! And follow all the 4th of July events on Facebook.
