Framing Mill

Locals who are looking to adorn their walls with images of Maplewood — or find the perfect gift for a Maplewood friend — may want to visit the Framing Mill on Ridgewood Road this Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.

The Framing Mill will be hosting a meet and greet for artist Jamie Meier and will be selling prints of her “Live Love Maplewood” instagram feed photo series.

Despite being a newcomer to town (she moved here with her husband and two young children in June 2013), Meier was besotted with Maplewood’s beauty and character and decided to capture images on her handy mobile phone instead of lugging her heavy DSLR around. She started snapping images around town and processing them in the editing app Snapseed. Meier then fed the images onto her newly created “Live Love Maplewood” Instagram feed.

Her first few photos were of the “gum wall” under the train tracks by Maplewood Middle School, her family’s breakfast at Park Wood Diner, and the exterior of Arturo’s in Maplewood Village.

Over the past fifteen months, Meier has added many more images, including fall foliage, the storefronts in Maplewood village, the Halloween parade, the clock at Ricalton Square, The Woodland, Town Hall – among many, many others.

The images have struck a chord with local residents; many have asked Meier to print her photographs and make them available for purchase.

That’s where Rick Hauser at The Framing Mill comes in. Hauser is selling a variety of collections — including prints of Meier’s “Live Love Maplewood” series.

“Meet and Greet” with Jamie Meier of “Live Love Maplewood,” Saturday, December 13, from 12 to 2 p.m. at The Framing Mill, 411 Ridgewood Road. Five percent of all sales will be donated to a local charity benefitting children and the arts. (@livelovemaplewood: https://instagram.com/livelovemaplewood
