The Summer Concert Series at the Springfield Avenue Gazebo comes to a close on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. with the 4th Street NiteOwls, a vintage jazz and “washboard swing” ensemble.

The 4th Street NiteOwls will perform an extensive repertoire from the 1930’s jazz age, according to a release from the township:

Hugely inspired by Thomas “Fats” Waller, they continue to breathe new life into classic songs from an era of vibrant and playful composers – throwing in a few originals to boot. The band features piano, electric arch top guitar, upright bass, & snare drum with male and female lead vocals.

The concerts are sponsored by The Maplewood Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs. The Springfield Avenue Gazebo is located next to the Hilton Branch of the Maplewood Library at 1688 Springfield Ave.

For more information on this and other events, visit the Maplewood Township website or call (973) 640-0399.
