Montclair, N.J.— As part of the Lincoln Center Local: Free Screenings series, Montclair Public Library will show a recording of Magos & Limón on Wednesday, December 7 at 7 p.m.

In this screening, Jazz singer Magos Herrera—dubbed “the Cassandra Wilson of Latin America”joined forces with “oft-fiery” (Jazz Times) composer and flamenco guitarist Javier Limón to produce an album of American and Latin jazz standards entitled Dawn (2014). The duo performs songs from the 2014 album fittingly described as “a first encounter between two musicians destined to fall in love.”

Prior to the screening, a short segment on Afro-Cuban Jazz from PBS’ documentary Latin Music U.S.A. will be shown followed by a discussion on Latin jazz.

Lincoln Center Local partners with your local library to bring exclusive free screenings of Lincoln Center’s finest performances directly to your neighborhood. Major support for Lincoln Center Local: Free Screenings is provided by the Oak Foundation. Additional support is provided by the Booth Ferris Foundation and the Altman Foundation.

Lincoln Center Local screenings are free and open to the public, but registration is recommended. The library is handicapped accessible and can provide assistive listening devices upon request.
