The following is from a press release.

Local artist Tara O’Leary and Cathy Roma, writer of the blog whatshouldimakefor.com, will co-host ‘tART,’ an event in Maplewood on Saturday, June 4 to celebrate their shared passion of art and food. O’Leary will introduce her new collection, The Reiki Series and Ms. Roma will provide light fare and demonstrating how to prepare a few seasonal desserts.

The event will be hosted at O’Leary’s studio located at 155 Maplewood Avenue (above the Maplewood Movie Theater) and is free and open to the public. Guests will be welcomed during two sessions: an afternoon session from 12 – 4 pm and later that evening beginning at 7 pm.

You can find inspiration anywhere: the changing seasons, a life event, a memorable meal. This is a unique opportunity to become inspired by art and food together. Roma’s recipes and cooking demonstrations will highlight seasonal ingredients and provide a fresh take on seasonal desserts.

O’Leary will be introducing a new collection of her work that is a breakaway from paintings she has done in the past. This new “abstract” collection was inspired during reiki treatments she received last year during her fight with breast cancer. This event promises to be a fun and lively opportunity to preview new artwork, sample tasty hors d’oeuvres and socialize with friends and neighbors.

About Tara O’Leary

Dreaming big in her early school years, O’Leary’s first attempt at her craft was a larger-than-life portrait – foreshadowing her distinct use of size and scale. Following the encouragement of her art teachers, she pursued classical art training at the School of Visual Arts in NYC where she honed her skill and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
