South Orange and Maplewood residents rocked out to REM cover band MERMER at a benefit concert Saturday night to support local schools (Marshall/Jefferson and both Middle Schools). A large crowd gathered at CrossFit Maplewood on West Parker Road to enjoy some great music and fun. The benefit concert raised more than $1,000 for the school PTAs.

The concert was hosted by Madhu & Nick Pai and Maria & Bruce Hartley. Bruce Hartley is the bass player in the band, which has played in venues like the Red Lion in New York City. Aside from REM tunes, the band also covers The Who. The enthusiastic crowd is lobbying to see MERMER on the Maplewoodstock stage this summer!

The event was graciously sponsored by Fran Lichtman and Randy Rabney of Keller Williams and could not have been possible without Maplewood Crossfit’s generous donation of their studio.
