Looking for some holiday music to get your seasonal spirit simmering? Maplewood’s resident opera singer/rock star Alex Kariotis has just the thing to put the jingle in your bells.

Kariotis’ vocal talents have taken him all over the globe, from performances as a lyric tenor at Avery Fisher Hall, to stage performances with the Rock Opera Orchestra, to ballparks throughout the U.S. and Canada (Kariotis sings a knock-out national anthem). But now he has turned his talents to the canon of holiday classics and will be releasing four Christmas songs over the next two weeks.

Kariotis said that the four-song EP has been fashioned as “a thank-you to our fans and to put us all in the holiday spirit.”

Today’s song is “The Christmas Song” — you know, chestnuts roasting on an open fire…. the tune penned by Bob Wells and Mel Tormé that became a perennial holiday staple thanks to Nat King Cole. Kariotis is accompanied by John Conte on piano, Kevin Brown on bass, and Alan Michaels on drums.

Enjoy the postcard video of the tune below.
