The recently formed Facebook group SOMa Advertising, Media, and Entertainment Network (AMEN) hosted “Can I Get an AMEN? The Gathering” at the Woodland in Maplewood on Friday night, May 6.
The number of RSVPs for the event was 256 and every last one of them — plus a few more — showed up, making the crowd in the parlor at The Woodland shoulder-to-shoulder.
SOMa AMEN is “a networking group for people living in and around Maplewood and South Orange, New Jersey, who work in the fields of advertising, television, media, and entertainment.”
The crowd was pretty impressive: professionals from Broadway shows, television, film, music, big New York-based ad firms and more filled the room. Party-goers brought drinks and snacks to share, plus a healthy appetite for networking. At 10 p.m. the event showed no signs of fading.
Organizers may have been asking for an “Amen” but they got something more like a “Hallelujah!”
