The Book Arts Roundtable proudly presents their annual members show of handmade books and works of art based on book making techniques. Over sixty five artists are members of the BAR, some of them have been active since its inception sixteen years ago while many artists are new to the organization.
Members meet several times a month at the Baird Center to learn and teach new techniques in book binding, mixed media, printmaking, paper arts, and more, using their knowledge to tell stories visually with craft, art and skill.
The annual show is one the most popular and highly anticipated exhibitions in the Pierro Gallery’s season. Most of the works on view are for sale at more than reasonable prices for such accomplished work. During the course of the exhibition BAR members are docents in the gallery and are prepared to talk about their own work and that of their fellow members. In addition, selected artists teach workshops in book making techniques that help raise the level of craftsmanship and spread the enjoyment and creativity that follows when making something by hand.
