The South Orange Elks Lodge donated $2,000 as part of their ongoing support of the Rent Party Garden. The donation is part of the Elks national Beacon Grant program that supports ongoing community-based projects. The donation was present at Saturday’s South Orange Elks Rent Party Garden Party.

“The South Orange Elks Rent Party Garden is a wonderful example of how the Elks are making an impact in their communities,” said Bob Donnelly of the South Orange Elks. The Garden is located on the front lawn of the Lodge and is maintained and managed by local non-profit Rent Party. “This is truly a unique partnership that helps those in need in our community,” added Donnelly.

The fresh produce raised in the Garden is donated to food pantries in Maplewood and South Orange. “The volunteers harvest every Saturday morning and deliver it directly to the food pantries,” explained Donnelly. Last year the Garden raised more than 1,500 pounds of produce. The Garden is in its seventh season and consists for 27 raised beds.
