Submit to South Orange Photo Project ‘Everybody Belongs Here’ by June 14

From the Township of South Orange Village:

South Orange strives to be a community where Everybody Belongs; we Celebrate Individuality, and we value inclusion. Now, it’s time to celebrate how our gift of diversity makes our community whole.

EVERYBODY BELONGS HERE: A Photography Project for the Entire South Orange Community will be a co-production between SouthNext Festival and the South Orange Village Center Alliance (SOVCA).

Beginning on June 17, the storefront windows of the former Blockbuster and other stores, will be filled with digital screens displaying portraits of our community. As viewers pass by, they will watch as one portrait becomes another, and then another. Each unique picture will illustrate our locations, our businesses, our past, and our future. Taken together, the individuals will become a collective of South Orange identity. This simple display will capture the incredible depth and breadth of the community in which we live.

But we cannot capture the full range of our remarkable community without YOUR participation. The deadline for participation is June 14th!

Here’s how you can get involved:

  1. Forward this message to as many South Orange and Maplewood residents as you can. Cast a wide net, and send to as diverse a group as possible.
  2. Take your own photo! Think of this as your all-time favorite selfie of how you see yourself! Show us your cultural heritage, your fashion sense, your profession, hobby or just your mood!
  3. Send your selfie (horizontal mode please) for inclusion* to [email protected] and Copy the release (below in Bold) in your email

As an added incentive, three (3) lucky winners will be drawn randomly from the participants and will win great prizes from our Village merchants and SOPAC.

* I give my consent for my photograph to be used by SouthNext and the South Orange Village Center Alliance  (“Producers”) as part of the “EVERYBODY BELONGS HERE” campaign kicking off on June 17th. I understand that my photograph will be displayed publicly along with other residents and organizations, and I realize that various news outlets and individuals may report on this story, and use my likeness in their reporting, and on social media outlets.  I hereby give to the Producers a non-exclusive, fully paid and royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable license to use the photograph in the EVERYBODY BELONGS HERE campaign, and in marketing and advertising and promotion of the Producers and their events.
