From Maplewood Community Music:
Maplewood Community Music (MCM) will host a swing dance fundraiser on Friday, October 2 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Woodland, 60 Woodland Rd in Maplewood.
Headlining the event will be MCM’s big band Swing Town under the direction of band leader and trombonist extraordinaire, Maplewood’s own Ben Williams. Swing Town’s talented vocalists will serenade you with jazz styles from swing to blues to bossa nova and beyond including jazz standards made famous by Ellington, Goodman, Miller, Basie, Bing Crosby, Sinatra and more.
MCM’s flute choir, the Silvertones, will set the mood as guests arrive. Enjoy this ensemble performing live to truly appreciate the wonderful harmonies of concert flutes along with piccolo, alto, bass and contrabass flutes.
Bring your dancing shoes, get out on the dance floor and swing the night away! If you just want to listen, perfect! Guests are invited to enjoy delicious offerings from local bakeries at our cash dessert bar!
