Taylor Hicks, one of the most beloved and popular American Idol winners of all time is performing at the South Orange Performing Arts Center on November 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Since his start on the mega-hit series, American Idol, Taylor Hicks has cultivated a unique take on  Southern Soul, R&B, Country and Blues. Hicks was crowned the American Idol winner on May 24, 2006, taking the title with over 63.4 million votes cast in total. Not content to simply conquer the world of live performance, Taylor Hicks will be debuting his new cable television show, State Plate, on INSP, formerly known as the Inspiration Network, on October 21. He will be traveling to all 50 states, sampling regional cuisine and delving into its origins and creation.

Taylor Hicks’ star continued to rise after he stepped off the American Idol stage. Following his 2006 win, Hicks signed a record deal and went on to release hits like “Do I Make You Proud,” which debuted on the number one spot on the Billboard 100. Signed to Arista Records, Hicks released his self-titled major label debut on December 12, 2006. With his raspy voice and signature salt and pepper hair, Hicks was declared leader of the notorious “Soul Patrol,” the name of his devout fan base.

In June 2012, Taylor Hicks began his residency at Bally’s Las Vegas. As a testament to his musical talent and showmanship, he rapidly evolved into one of the most popular acts in the city, continuing his stay with an extension through 2013 at a larger venue, Paris Las Vegas, making him the first American Idol winner in history to secure a long term residency in Las Vegas.

Taylor Hicks has performed with some of the greatest artists of all time, including Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, Gladys Knight, Earth Wind and Fire and The Allman Brothers, appearing in concerts worldwide. In addition to headlining at Paris Las Vegas and other Caesars Entertainment properties all over the United States, he is currently working on his first country album.
