The Albert Joseph Gallery celebrated the opening of its brand new showroom warehouse at 1988 Springfield Avenue with a ribbon cutting on Saturday, April 16, attended by Maplewood Mayor Vic DeLuca, friends and family.
Albert J. Yonadi founded One World Imports Ltd/Albert Joseph Gallery in 1998. He began his business importing antiques and decoratives from South East Asia. He operated a retail business in Short Hills from 1998-2010. A fire in a neighboring building preempted him moving his retail location to Country Mile in Morristown. In, 2014 he added a space at the New York Design Center at 200 Lexington Ave, NYC.
Some of his clients include Lanvin, Kate Spade, Nate Berkus, Alex and Olivia and some of the top design firms in NYC. He closed his store in Morristown and has returned to our neighborhood with the addition of what Albert calls, “A Warehouse Showroom.” The space is located at 1988 Springfield Avenue in the building the formerly housed FOOOD (Food Of Our Own Design). Being a Maplewood resident and having a warehouse space in town for many years, it made sense to put the showroom and warehouse under one roof locally.
Albert spent most of 2015 renovating the old commercial bakery building, transforming it into a warehouse-showroom. “Renovating the old building was difficult but worth it.” He recycled much of the old lumber and studs to complete the interior. An old wooden floor in need of much repair and patching was buried under two layers of linoleum tile, which he said was by far the most difficult part of the job. The original tin ceiling, (which was hidden under two drop ceilings) and store front were restored, keeping the brick face with crescent and column details.
Today’s grand opening/ribbon cutting was attended by friends and family members as well as Mayor DeLuca and 90 year old New Jersey artist W. Carl Burger. (You can find more information on him athttps://youtu.be/L97R3VmtNYw)
From Asian antiques, traditional antiques and 20th century design, the store offers fine antiques from all over the world. Professional service and antique restoration done on premises along with Peter Konopacki of Master Antiques,  https://www.masterantiques.net/
