‘Future of South Orange Retail & Liquor License Reform’ Forum July 31 at SOPAC

The South Orange Village Center Alliance will be hosting the upcoming forum, The Future of South Orange Retail & Liquor License Reform, presenting with the Township of South Orange Village and the Seton Village Committee on July 31, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the South Orange Performing Arts Center Loft, 1 SOPAC Way, South Orange.

“We have all been working in tandem on revising the municipal code on a Business Code Review Task Force,” wrote SOVCA Director Bob Zuckerman, “and we have come up with recommendations on how to amend the code to provide for uses that are currently prohibited in parts of our downtown but, given the changing nature of retail, we might now want to see in our town.”

Before an ordinance is introduced, Zuckerman, Village President Sheena Collum and Seton Village Chair Doug Zacker are hosting an open forum on the subject.

“There are also a few bills in the hopper in the Legislature that would amend our antiquated liquor license laws,” said Zuckerman, “so we thought that we would add that to the mix, as this topic also significantly impacts our commercial districts.”
