Studio 509 exerciseTurkey day and holiday cocktails already got you down…or your weight up? This year, give the gift of wellness! Maplewood’s Studio 509 provides health and wellness training in both private and group classes. With a specialization in Gyrotonic, Pilates, and TRX, they tailor fitness programs to meet the needs of you and your loved ones.

Want to try out your moves? Take a ‘Dance Fusion’ class. Like Pilates, but want to work out in a new way? Perhaps ‘Niyolates’ is for you. No modern fitness studio is complete without TRX, of course, and Studio 509 has that, too!

For the holiday season, studio founder Holly Benge suggests a simple stress-fix exercise: “We believe that postural alignment is integral to a balanced body.” If your back and shoulders are feeling tight, or if you’re feeling that ‘holiday stress,’ try this:

  • Sit at the edge of your chair with the tallest posture you can find. Lift your chest, arch your back and gently undulate your body all the way forward until your head drops. Roll yourself back up engaging your core muscles until you’re back at the starting point.  Repeat 8 times using a nice open mouthed breath. You’ll feel rejuvenated and ready to face the world.”

Today’s special? Order a 5 class pack for yourself or a loved one for $90. Your bodies – especially your waistlines – will be thankful.

Check out this video of TRX; and this video that introduces all that Studio 509 has to offer:
