Vive la difference!

Long in the shadow of Maplewood Village’s Dickens Village holiday events, Springfield Avenue burst into the light today with a big bold celebration that including high energy live music with its tree lighting.

Seth Boyden’s Chorus serenaded the crowd and later Bruno Lee and Friends rocked and rapped to a large and appreciative audience at the second annual Springfield Avenue Holiday Festival.

The Park Wood Diner provided hot cocoa, which was served by Maplewood Recreation Department staff. “It’s really good,” one ten-year-old said while sipping appreciatively.

Santa posed for photos and danced with the band. A menorah and Kwanzaa kinara were unveiled. A crafty elf painted faces. Children enjoyed crafts and activities inside the warmth of the Hilton Branch of the Maplewood Library. And visitors were invited to fill out slips to win gift certificates from Springfield Avenue businesses.
