If you’ve been missing your Tratt this week, no worries! The beloved Village Trattoria in Maplewood is re-opening today with all the delicious dishes and pizza — plus a fresh new look.
But it’s not just about aesthetics: The changes will improve the kitchen, dining room, take-out/pickup area, and the menu.
Owner Mary Vayas explained: “This is stage 1 of renovations. The dining room and front entrance are being remodeled with a whole new look.”
She’s not kidding. Beautiful new cabinetry/paneling and countertops — plus some nice accents from No. 165 — are giving the Tratt a decidedly “on trend” new vibe that’s brighter and more open. Subway tiling will be added soon as well as art on the walls.
The renovations have made more room for pick-up/takeout (“We needed this!”). In addition, there’s new equipment in the kitchens, including new pizza ovens. “But we are keeping the original bricks! 27 years of great pizza — we’re not taking a chance!”
Stage 2 will be a new facade and lighting.
Finally, the refresh includes some new items to the menu.
“We are thankful and grateful we are doing great and we don’t want to stray from what the Tratt is,” said Vayas, who explained that the menu additions include “new salads, new pizza toppings and a few other things up our sleeve!”
