Next time you head to the UPS Store on South Orange Avenue to mail a package or recycle some batteries, you may be greeted by a Baseball Hall of Fame inductee.

Phil Luchs, a resident of South Orange, was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY on Jan. 15 as part of Special Olympics Team New Jersey. The team won the Gold medal in the U.S. Special Olympics in 2015 — the first time ever that baseball was part of the Special Olympics.

Special Olympics Team New Jersey will now be immortalized in the Hall of Fame with a collection of memorabilia from the National Games including jerseys, photos, team roster and more. Phil was honored at the Jan. 15 ceremony with all his teammates.

Phil has been working at The UPS Store located on 4 South Orange Avenue for the past six years. Stop in and give Phil your congratulations!
