10 Days of 10Ks Raises $3K+ for MEND Mobile Food Pantry

MEND (Meeting Essential Needs with Dignity) Hunger Relief Network reports that the 10 Days of 10Ks fundraiser — which featured 10 straight days of early morning runs in South Orange, Maplewood and West Orange from August 17-26 — raised a total of $3,152, “crushing the original goal of $2,000! ”

Said MEND Director Robin Peacock, “These funds will allow us to fill the Green Bean — our new mobile food pantry — with fresh and healthy food to distribute to underserved communities in Essex County at least six more times! This will be especially helpful as we head into the winter months, when access to fresh produce for our 17-member food pantry network becomes even more difficult.”

If you want to see The Green Bean in action, the next distribution is on September 18 in East Orange. For more information about this and other volunteer events, visit MEND’s Current Volunteer Opportunities.
